Day 1: Arrival in Amalfi
Check into your hotel and take your time to explore the historic town center in the afternoon. *Easiest arrival via Naples Airport. From the airport you can take a direct bus to Amalfi (Pintour Bus, 2hrs ride). If you are coming from Salerno, take the local SITA-bus to Amalfi, departing from the train station of Salerno (1hr; sit on the left side of the bus to enjoy the sea view). Arguably a better choice from Salerno would be to travel by boat to Amalfi (Travelmar, 30min). The boats move between the villages of the Amalfi area, and also upon arrival or departure this remains a very nice choice to look from a different angle on this amazing coastline.

Day 2: From Amalfi to Pontone and back (9-10km, 4-5 hrs, +550m/-550m)
We have foreseen an easy circular walk for your first hiking day which will give you an excellent taste of the incredible cultural and natural riches of the Amalfi Coast. You will walk towards the small village of Pontone following an ancient staircase beneath the overhanging limestone cliffs. The highlight is the magnificent Torre dello Zirro, not only a curious heritage site but also a great viewpoint of the Amalfi and Atani landscape. Those of you up for an adventure can continue deeper into the valley and contemplate a number of beautiful waterfalls. The overnight is in Amalfi.

Day 3: Walk from Ravello to Atrani (9,5 km or less, 4-5hrs or less, +200-850m/-450-850m)
You begin this self-guided walking day with a short bus ride to the captivating historic town of Ravello. It is one of the iconic villages of the Amalfi coast, appealing to artists, writers, musicians and travelers from around the world. Take your time to explore the village, as it is abundant in medieval heritage sites, but also in spectacular views of the Amalfi coast. Later, you continue down the coast passing the beautiful Villa Cimbrone and the hamlet of Castiglione walking through vineyards and lemon groves. Soon, you follow the romantic medieval stairs town to the charming little town of Atrani, one of the best-preserved villages of the coast.

Day 4: From Bomerano to Positano along the ‘Sentiero degli Dei’ (Footpath of the Gods) (9km, 4,30hrs, +200m/-800m)
Today’s independent hiking route begins with a short bus ride up to the small village of Bomerano located on the Agerola high plain. Here is the starting point of the legendary ‘Sentiero degli Dei’ (Footpath of the Gods) famous for the amazing views it offers. After a wonderful panoramic section of the route you reach with views over the whole Amalfi Coast, you reach the junction for the monastery of San Domenico located in a particularly dramatic setting overlooking the coast from a hilltop (You can decide to take an optional detour along a medieval pilgrim route). Following the path, you soon pass the hamlet of Nocelle and walk to the small village of Monteperturo through a magnificent valley. The last section of today’s route, from Montepertuso to Positano, is short, but so full of gorgeous viewpoints that it will take you some time while you enjoy it and take advantage of the numerous photo opportunities. Positano is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and a true gem in the crown of the Amalfi Coast. The next two overnights are in Positano.

Tips
Daily departures between mid-March and the end of October (excl. end of July till mid-August). Arrival: The tour starts in Amalfi, connected with Salerno by a frequent bus (and boat) service and with Naples by a less frequent bus service. In Summer there are direct boats from Naples. A taxi pick-up service can be arranged either from Naples (airport or train station), or from Pompeii or Castellammare di Stabia, which can both be easily reached from Naples, with the local Circumvesuviana train. Departure: The tour ends after breakfast on Day 6 in Positano. A frequent bus service can bring you to either Sorrento or Amalfi/Salerno, from where you travel to your next destination (Naples, Salerno or Rome can all be easily reached). Several taxi services are available to bring you directly to your next destination.
Most tours - unless specified differently - are moderately easy tours, suitable for those who have experience with walking and a good general physical condition. The walks can be extended or shortened according to your own desire. High standard of fitness is not necessary but you should be able to walk for up to 5 hours a day, sometimes in hot sun on dusty or stony tracks. The journey also involves some walking uphill, and some steep sections downhill, sometimes on paths with rough surfaces, often along long flights of steps.
