We’ve got more! We offer also a variety of shorter (3 to 5 nights) programs along the Halland Trail (Hallandsleden). Please check with us for details.

Southern Sweden is idyllic – and in many different ways. This part of the country encompasses everything from the stunning archipelago of the west coast and Gotland’s unique sea stack fields to the deep, enchanted forest of Småland, complete with a myriad of clean lakes. There are plenty of trails to choose from, lasting from a few hours to a week or longer. The province of Halland is known for its natural beauty and you’ll get to experience plenty of it along the Halland Trail (Hallandsleden). It is divided into 26 sections and three sub-trails, clocking up a total of 453 kilometres. The trail consists of varied terrain with coniferous and deciduous forests and a scenic environment with heathland and cultivated landscapes. If you want to combine hiking along the sea with hiking through beautiful forest, this is a perfect combination. Your walk starts at the castle in Halmstad where you follow Prince Bertil’s path along the well-known coast via Tylösand to Möllegård. In Steninge, your hike goes through oak forests, over vast fields and along the sea at Enet nature reserve. From the well-known Halland coast, your journey continues to Rydöbruk where the hike continues along the Hallandsleden. You meet beautiful forest, quiet villages and paths and roads surrounded by beautiful lakes before you reach Simlångsdalen via Knallhult. Finally, you walk through beautiful beech forest to Ulvereds Hjorthäng. After the last day’s breakfast, we will drive you back to Halmstad.

After breakfast head for the Halmstad Castle where you will find the starting point for Prince Bertil's well-known walking path by Nissan River. Named in memory of the Duke of Halland, Prince Bertils stig is an 18 km long stretch that will introduce you to some of the loveliest spots in the city of Halmstad. This largely coastal path – complete with lovely sandy beaches, small harbours, cliffs, and old stone quarries – runs from central Halmstad towards Tylösand and on to the lush Möllegård nature reserve. Here in Möllegård there is the opportunity to grab a drink or eat an ice cream from Riccardo's well-known ice cream factory while waiting for the transfer vehicle that picks you up for a transfer to Steninge, where you will spend the night.

Further ahead you enter the Skipås nature reserve where you follow a marked path through the oak forest. The forest trail is soon followed by an open track through vast farmland, going all the way to the sea. Why not end the day with a sauna before dinner?

The hiking trail takes you uphill along a quiet country road past farms and forests. Small lakes and playful streams appear now and then too. The hike ends in Knallhult, where you stay overnight. The accommodation is an old farm that has been converted with great care into a nice guest house right in the middle of the Halland forest.

The waterfall, which is the main attraction here, has a drop of about 35 meters. According to a legend, the waterfall got its name in 1676 when a group of Danish soldiers fled from Swedish troops. When the Danes reached the suspension bridge over the waterfall, the Swedes cut off the brackets of the bridge and the Danes fell into the waterfall. The trail takes you further through Beech forest to the next nature reserve - Gårdshult. Here the landscape opens up as the trail goes through meadows and farms, later on followed again by forests and bogs. At the end of the hike you will arrive in Ulvered. Here you will reside close to red deer and fallow deer, grazing in an extensive enclosure around your accommodation.
