Day 1: Arrival
Welcome to Slovenia! A small land, full of natural wonders. When arriving in Bled, you will get to see the first, the most famous of them all – Lake Bled. A picturesque lake, decorated with a church on Slovenia’s only island, overlooked by a 1000-year-old castle on a 130- meter rock and embraced by two major mountain ranges – the Karawanken range and the mighty Julian Alps. After an introductory briefing introducing the day-by-day program, you will want to just sit by the shore and take in this spectacular view or circle it on foot.
Day 2. Lake Bled and Vintgar Gorge (10km, 3-4hrs, +100m/-100m)
After breakfast, you will start your independent hiking tour towards the Vintgar Gorge, a fantastic display of mysterious and powerful Slovenian nature. A 1,8-kilometer long gorge is carved into vertical rocks of the Hom and Boršt hills and it has green, crystal clear water, full of rapids and small pools. The gorge is accessible by a wooden walkway stretching from the entry point all the way to 16- meter high Šum Waterfall, the biggest river waterfall in Slovenia. Following the easy circle route through the quaint villages of Podhom and Zasip, you will be accompanied by the beautiful rural area surrounding Bled. Optionally, in the afternoon you can go on a self-guided cycling tour around Bled.
Day 3. Triglav Lakes valley (14km, 7hrs, +1035/-1035m)
A private transfer will take you to Lake Bohinj in the morning. From there you will start your walking route towards the well-known Triglav Lakes Valley. Hike across the steep hillside of Komarča until you reach Black Lake (Črno jezero), the most southern and the last lake in the series of lakes of the Triglav Lakes Valley. It got its name from its location, in a basin between pine forests, which give the crystal clear water a very dark colour. Continuing hiking you will come to Double Lake (Dvojno jezero) and its fairy tale-like mountain hut. After some rest and an optional lunch at the hut, you will return back on the same path. When arriving back to the starting point of your hike, before a transfer takes you back to Bled, you can choose to do another 20- minute hike to the 78-meter Savica waterfall. It is one of the biggest and most well-known waterfalls in Slovenia.
Day 4. Transfer to Bovec (via Vršič mountain pass) (12km, 5-6hrs, +750m/-750m)
After breakfast a private transfer (minivan) will take you from Bled to the beautiful town of Kranjska Gora. Just before the first road turns towards the Vršič mountain pass, you will make a quick stop to visit the enchanting Lake Jasna. On top of the mountain pass (1611 m), you will make another stop for a short walk to the view point to the rocky face of the famous Heathen Maiden (Ajdovska deklica). For the afternoon: You can choose to go either White Water rafting on Soča river or take an easy hike to Krn Lake (5 hours), the largest alpine lake at the altitude of 1340 meters.
Day 5. Mt. Svinjak (1653 m) OR relaxing/white-water rafting day by the river Soča (10km, 6hrs, +1180m/-1180m)
Today you can choose – you can have a relaxing day in Bovec and explore the surroundings of the beautiful town and the vicinity of the river Soča, or you can choose an independent hike to Mt. Svinjak. The imposing, pyramid-shaped mountain, also sometimes referred to as “Matterhorn of Bovec”, is quite a trophy for every hiker! It offers dramatic views on the valley with the river Soča and to many over 2000-meter-high peaks of the Julian Alps. A moderate hiking trail will lead you through forest, on the ridge, over a steep incline to the peak with miniature replica of Triglav Tower that is standing on the summit of Slovenia’s highest mountain.
Day 6. Walk the beautiful Soča trail (21km, 6-7hrs, +0m/-430m)
After breakfast, a private transfer will take you to the hut at the spring of river Soča, where the Soča trail begins. There is a 15-minute walk on a well-marked path to the spring of the river. Many say it is one of the most beautiful karst springs in the Julian Alps. The water flows from the slopes of the mountains and gushes out of an abyss, joining the riverbed in a waterfall. The walking path alongside the river Soča connects the tranquil parts of the Trenta Valley. A peaceful walk is livened up by loose footpath bridges crossing the river. On the way you pass by another natural phenomenon – The Big Troughs of the Soča (Velika korita Soče). Standing on a swinging footbridge you will have a marvelous view of the 750-meter long and up to 12-meter deep emerald troughs.
Day 7. Transfer from Bovec to Ljubljana with optional stop to visit Postojna Цave and Predjama Цastle
After breakfast at the accommodation, the transfer will take you towards the city of Ljubljana, with an optional stop to visit the jaw-dropping Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle - the largest cave castle in the world. You will have the afternoon free to explore the old town of Ljubljana. Take a relaxing walk through the old town, on the shores of Ljubljanica river, explore the narrow streets or visit the mighty Ljubljana Castle.
