Day 1: Arrival in Bad Tölz
Make your own way to Bad Tölz and take the time to explore on foot - a warm-up for the independent walking adventure which awaits. Stroll alongside the Isar River, capturing the full view of Golgotha, before proceeding beyond the spa house into the bustling market road. Pause to appreciate the exquisite houses and indulge in a leisurely break at any of the charming sidewalk cafés. *Easiest arrival via Munich Airport (Bad Tölz is within 1hr train ride from Munich).

Day 2: Bad Tölz – Bad Wiessee (18km, 5hrs, +720m/-630m)
Today you begin your self-guided walking tour with a brief train ride to Lenggries, where your journey unfolds along the expansive Via Alpina hiking trail. Traverse towards the Aueralm, navigating through the Hirschtal-col beneath the formidable cliffs of Mount Fockenstein. Pause for a satisfying respite, savoring delectable Bavarian Alpine treats, then press forward through woodlands and over meadows, relishing the panoramic vista of Lake Tegernsee in the distance. Descend gracefully to Bad Wiessee as you conclude this picturesque adventure.

Day 3: Circular walk to mount Riederstein (9km, 3,30-5hrs, +420m/-450m)
Today, you'll venture along elevated paths offering stunning vistas, guiding you to the Galaun mountain inn. Continue your path to a charming mountain chapel atop Mount Riederstein's rocky formation. From here, you'll be treated to a splendid view encompassing the lake below and the encircling peaks. Upon returning to the lakeside, the Tegernsee brewery inn beckons for a refreshing drink, before you journey back to Bad Wiessee aboard the Tegernsee ship.

Day 4: Bad Wiessee – Lake Schliersee (12km, 4hrs, +620m/-570m)
Starting at Tegernsee, you swiftly ascend to alpine pastures using a steep forest path encircling the renowned Alpine beer garden, Neureuth. Pause for a scenic break overlooking the lake before proceeding leisurely to the Gindelalm alp. Following a descent along forest trails and roads, you'll reach Lake Schliersees. Beyond the marina lies the charming, well-kept spa park nestled directly along the shores of Lake Schliersee, highlighting the beauty of this region in Germany.

Day 5: Circular walk to Lake Spitzingsee (13km, 3-4hrs, +390m/-60m)
Today’s section of the independent walking route follows the lakeside-adventure-path to Fischhausen. Next, follow the 'Bockerlbahnweg' trail, which boasts several informative stops along the former forest railway route. Your journey continues with a walk to the 'Spitzingsattel' pass and continues towards the enchanting Lake Spitzingsee. Circumnavigate this natural haven, then pause for a rest at the historic 'Wurzhütte' chalet. To conclude, a bus will bring you back to Schliersee, completing your excursion.

Day 6: Lake Schliersee – Bayrischzell (15km, 5hrs, +180m/-990m)
Ascend effortlessly via a cable car to Mount Taubenstein's summit station. Proceed along a lofty path that treats you to breathtaking panoramas, leading you to the Rotwandhaus. Here, you have the option to climb the Rotwand peak. Continue your hiking advnenture by traversing the picturesque cirque known as 'Großtiefentaler Kessel,' until you reach the serene Lake Soinsee. Meander through alpine pastures and vibrant meadows, finally arriving at the charming town of Bayrischzell.

Day 7: Circular walk to Mt. Wendelstein (5km, 4-5hrs, +920m/-20m)
Today’s section of the self-guided walking tour will take you along the King-Maximilian path, guiding you by a picturesque waterfall to the Wendelstein-Alp. The route extends to the summit crowned by a remarkable meteorological observatory. Continue along the panorama-loop path to the Wendelstein cave, boasting accessible underground tunnels. Following a delightful break in the panorama beer garden, descend via cable car to the valley before your leisurely stroll back to Bayrischzell.

Tips
Friday and Saturday arrivals only, from mid-May till the beginning of October! Best arrival airport - Munich. Take a train from Munich to Bad Tölz or Bad Wiessee with a journey time of approx. 1 hour. Return journey by train from Bayrischzell to Bad Tölz , duration appr. 1.30 hrs, by train and bus to Bad Wiessee, duration appr. 1,30 hrs. Easy walks with stunning views along walking paths and forest roads. Big differences in heights are tackled by cable car. For the daily tours a good basic fitness level is required, since walking times vary between 3 and 5 hours. When possible, there are also more challenging routes on offer, which will lead you even higher up into the mountain areas.
