The first walking day of your self-guided tour begins at the banks of the unbelievably beautiful Lake Prags with crystal clear waters. Here you get a first glimpse of the Pragser Tal (Prags valley) with its contrasting dark green tree crowns of the surrounding coniferous forests and the white vertical walls of the typical Dolomites mountain rocks. You follow a trail to the lush Rossalm alpine pasture and then to Plätzwiese. In the distance you can see the mountains Cristallo, Tofana and not the least the world-famous Drei Zinnen (Three Peaks). There is an option for an easier start of the tour. If you choose this option, your driver will take you to the Tuscherhof guesthouse which will be your starting point. Walk along the river and pass the Brückele guesthouse. Pass the wooden Stolla hut and the nearby curious rock formations until you finally reach the Plätzwiese plateau. 2x overnights in Prags.
Day 3. Plätzwiese – Strudelkopf or Dürrenstein (3-4hrs, 9km (+360m/-360m) OR 4-5hrs, 8km (+850m/-850m)
Today’s section of the independent hiking tour is particularly picturesque. The Plätzwiese pasture is a famous starting point for many hiking trails which gives you the wonderful opportunity to choose between two possible routes. Depending on your preferences for today’s walk, you will either follow a trail to Strudelkopf (the shorter option) or Dürrenstein (the longer option). Both routes offer breathtaking views on the Hohe Gaisl, the Drei Zinnen, the Tofana, and the Monte Cristallo summit.
Day 4. Plätzwiese – Knappenfuss Valley – Gemärk/Cimabanche – Cortina d‘Ampezzo (1,30-2hrs, 6km (+0m/-460m) OR 6-7hrs, 19km (+610m/-1300m)
Today you continue your hiking experience though the high-mountain plateau of Plätzwiese and go down through the Knappenfußtal to Cimabanche located between South Tyrol and Belluno. You have two options from there - either end the hike there and take the afternoon off by reaching Cortina d’Ampezzo by public transport or continue following the self-guided walking route notes to the Ra Stua hut and continue to Cortina d’Ampezzo passing the famous Col Rosa. Your overnight is in the stunningly located formal Olympic village of Cortina d’Ampezzo. Along the way there are further options to cut the mileage short. 2x overnights in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Day 5. Circular track; Faloria cable car (3-4hrs, 12km (+100m/-990m) OR 4-5hrs, 15km (650m/-650m) OR 5hrs, 15km (+270m/-1155m)
Today’s independent walking itinerary has foreseen two main options. The longer one will take you to Forcella Faloria and the shorter one follows the picturesque Dolomieu Panoramic Trail. Both options reach Passo Tre Croci and descent to Cortina. Both options offer magnificent views of the surrounding Dolomite peaks. If none of these are of interest, you can make a circular trail around Cortina (which is actually a third option).
Day 6. Cortina d’Ampezzo – Rifugio Auronzo - Drei Zinnen (Three Peaks) – Rifugio Auronzo (3-4hrs, 9km (+350m/-350m) OR 4-5hrs, 11km (+100m/-1000m)

Those three peaks are the most famous rock formations of the Dolomites. From there you will hike through the Rienz Valley onto the Three Peaks viewpoint. Later you will catch a bus back to to your hotel in Dobbiaco/Villabassa (ticket not included). There is also an option of walking in a more lisurely pace around the Three Peaks and then return by bus to your hotel in Dobbiaco/Villabassa from Rifugio Auronzo (ticket not included, EUR 6-7). 1x overnight in either Niederdorf/Villabassa or Toblach/Dobbiaco.
