The Lycian Way is no doubt one of the top ten walks in the world. It is a 500 km-long trail on the southern coast of Turkey. An all-time-favorite self-guided hiking route on the Teke Peninsula between Fethiye and Antalya. This is no surprise, as it follows the most beautiful Mediterranean coastline in the world. What is more, you get to explore ancient Lycian cities as well. This makes this independent walk the perfect mixture of beautiful scenery and cultural heritage. Just picture climbs of snow-capped peaks followed by a relaxing day at the beach or visits of ancient ruins. And of course, the iconic Mediterranian landscape with its superb sunsets will be a constant companion. The unique twist of this walk are the many typical Lycian tombs that blend in with the landscape so well.

Day 1: Arrival in Antalya
Arrive Antalya Airport. We will meet you off your flight and whisk you in a private transfer to the ancient walled city founded in the 3rd Century BC by King of Pergamon, Attalos II Philadelphus, he wanted the city named after himself to be founded in the most beautiful spot in his Kingdom. Surrounded by mountains, this cliff edge city is well watered with waterfalls cascading into the sea, and still maintains much of it's charm in spite of being Turkey's fastest growing city. In the old city known as the Kaleci ( inside the castle) there are cobbled streets strewn with restaurants, bars and Turkish baths. Night in charming boutique hotel on BB basis.
Day 2: Tekirova - Ciralı (6hrs, 19km, +700m/-700m)
We will pick you up from your hotel and drive you west to the start of your trek at Tekirova. Today's walk is Here you start to walk this gentle but long trek, sprinkled with deserted coves should you feel the need to cool off, always watched over bu the towering Mt. Olympos. Descending via the interesting abandoned chrome mine workings at Maden Bay, your target at the fine long beach of Cirali comes tantalizingly into view. 19Km. Bed and Breakfast basis hotel with large pool.
Day 3: Optional short treks and sightseeing in Cirali/Olympos
Today can be a rest day soaking up the pristine beach, can include a moderate trek to the eternal flames that come from the rocks in the area where the fire breathing Chimera was slain by Bellerophon and Pegasus, and or you can visit the site of Olympos famous for the scandalous pirates who took over the citty in the first century BC, before being slain by the Pompei the Great. Bed and Breakfast basis in accommodation.
Day 4: Cirali - Adrasan (6hrs, 16km, +800m/-800m)
Passing along the beach you follow the river into the jungle like undergrowth of Olimpos Ancient city. A long and satisfying climb up through the necropolis of the city takes you higher through forests of red barked Arbutus Andrachne, known as Strawberry trees. Reaching the pass of Mt Moses ( Musa Dagi) you can visit the excavated site of Phoenikos, where the pirate-king was said to have made his last stand. Descend following a stream bed to the citrus groves and golden sand of Adrasan 15Km. Bed and Breakfast basis in accommodation.
Day 5: Choice of 3 optional walks around Adrasan (8km/10km/11km)
We will provide you with details of three different walks in Adrasan to help you get the best of your visit to this tranquil location. Bed and Breakfast basis in accommodation. Hotel with pool.
Day 6: Adrasan - Gelidonya - Melanippe (6hrs, 18km, +760m/-760m)
Following the untouched Gelidonya peninsula around the headland that claimed the lives of many sailors over the centuries before the still working lighthouse was built. One of Lycia's most photogenic spots deserves to be taken in at length. round the cape and end your trek in the pretty cove of Melanippe, named after the daughter of Aeolus the Centaur, a queen of the Amazons. 18Km. From here we will take you to the Lagoon of Beymelek near Demre. Half board in Hotel.
Day 7: Kapakli- Istlada- Simena (3hrs, 9km, +150m/-275m)
A morning of History. You will have the choice to visit the Church of St. Nicholas, where the real Father Christmas was bishop in 3th Century AD. You may want to visit the nearby site of Myra, which has a perfectly preserved Roman Theatre and many cliff bourne Lycian Tombs. For a more in depth look at the history you can choose to go to the Roman Harbour of Andriake, with the newly founded Museum of Lycian Civilistations in the Granary built by Hadrian. After your sightseeing, we transfer you to the village of Kapakli, from where you walk through the very cute ancient site of Istlada before meeting the sea again at the Kekova straits. Before long the Castle of Simena Looms above you and you know your Lycian odyssey is almost at an end. Climbing over the sarcophagus strewn ridge, you descend to the car-free, picture postcard village of Simena to your waterside accommodation. A perfect end to the week. 9Km. Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
Day 8. Departure (or extra night)
According to your flight arrangements we will take you by boat to the village of Ucagiz (included in the price) and then transfer you to Antalya or Dalaman Airport. (* We suggest taking an extra day in the area to visit the Sunken City, Aperlai or other sites of interest around Ucagiz, many of which are accessible by boat/sea kayak only)
