Your driver will meet you at the Bucharest Airport or pick up from your hotel in Bucharest for a private transfer to Brasov where your first overnight will be. (2.30-3hrs drive).

After a healthy breakfast, a short transfer will take you to the trailhead of the first hiking day of the independent walking tour in the Piatra Mare Mountain. You have 2 options for the day. Option 1: You start walking at the top of the mountain and enter The Seven Ladders Canyon. As you ascend to the highest part of the narrow path you follow, you can opt to conquer the highest peak in the area (1843m). The Seven Ladders Canyon is the most attractive hiking area of the Piatra Mare (Big Rock) mountain. It is famous for its indisputable natural beauty and the Seven Ladders Waterfall - the second highest in Europe. A transfer will take you back to Brasov in the afternoon. Option 2: A short 2-3 hour-long hike to the Seven Ladders Canyon. You can spend the afternoon in Brasov and climb Tampa Hill by cable car or visit the Aventura fun park with your family (https://www.parc-aventura.ro/en/). You can also organize Brown Bear watching from a hide (appr. 65-70 EUR/pp; this option is guided and we can only confirm it if you notify us at the time of booking (min kids age - 12y).

Today’s independent walking day begins with a transfer to the town of Zarnesti (appr. 40km) after breakfast. This is the ideal entry point to the Piatra Craiului Mountains National Park. When in the park, you will have the opportunity to have a wonderful walk through two authentic mountain villages - Magura and Pestera. The scenery and the peaceful countryside are stunning. You can pay a visit to the oldest guesthouse in the national park, where you can do cheese tasting (payable locally; please ask for details/arrangements during the tour briefing). Overnight in Magura village.

Today’s self-guided hiking route will take you from Magura village to the very first tourist village in Romania - Sirnea. The trail will take you across wonderful meadows and idyllic rustic houses. Take the time to relax and enjoy the wonderful landscape. A driver will be waiting for you in Sirnea to take you to the next mountain village in the itinerary - the village Moeciu de Sus, located in the neighboring Bucegi Mountains Natural Park.

You can rest and enjoy the peaceful life in Moeciu de Sus today. The village is located in a most scenic setting and most famous for its traditional sheep wool and cheese products. A guided tour is optional today (70 Euro/person, requests upon booking are required), including a farm visit, a 3-hour hiking tour of the surrounding area, a traditional lunch and a tour of the village with a horse-driven carriage.

After breakfast, your independent hiking tour continues with a walk through the mountain villages at the foot of the Bucegi Natural Park. Enjoy the company of lush green hills and secluded rural houses as you follow the trail revealing breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding mountain ranges.

We have foreseen an exciting visit of the legendary Bran castle for your last day on this sеfl-guided walking tour (Please have in mind that the castle opens at 12:00 on Mondays). You will be transferred to Brasov in the afternoon where you can join a guided sightseeing tour, exploring the hidden gems of this medieval city (payable locally; ask for details at the time of tour briefing).

Take the train to Bucharest (it passes nearly every hour) or order a private transfer (contact us for details) to your hotel in Bucharest city or Bucharest airport.
